At Captain Wild, if there's one subject we don't stray from, it'slearning about the mountains.
With MILLET, we offer you a choice of 2 items on loan, plus an ice climbing school session in the lunar setting of Chamonix's Mer de Glace, accompanied by a professional guide.
On the program: progress with crampons on the glacier, learning ice techniques, descending vertiginousladders, then a night in a refuge after one hell of a hike.

Meet us at the Millet store at 5 p.m. to pick up your Millet equipment and meet your friends.

We've arranged for you to spend the night at the Hotel des Campanules, where you can enjoy a drink and a game of billiards before bedtime. It's important to have your equipment ready on Friday evening, so you can make the most of Saturday and leave early to get the most out of the ice.
Easy on the beers, it's going to be a big day!

Let's elevate ourselves.
Start your day with a hotel breakfast and don't forget to grab your picnic before meeting up with Renaud, your guide, who is all set to embark on a journey of exploration with you.

We check your equipment and the organization of your bag. At 9:30 am, we take the legendary Montenvers train from Chamonix up to the Mer de Glace station. From here, we start the hike, then take the vertiginous ladders to set foot on the glacier.
You'll see, the scenery is sublime and you'll feel the fresh breath of the ice.

You're going to eat some ice
We then attack the lunar landscape of the Mer de Glace.
Renaud, your guide, will share with you his experience of how to evolve on a glacier. Trust us, you're in for a treat.
Save your strength for the ascent to the refuge (approx. 3 to 4 hours), but first a picnic break amidst the peaks of the Chamonix valley.

It's a tough climb
The first part was a breeze. I hope you still have some energy left. Let's hit the road to reach the Refuge
of l'Envers des Aiguilles.
We ascend new ladders on a beautiful wall (beware of vertigo) and tackle the changes in elevation for about 4 hours, eventually arriving at the magnificent refuge of l'Envers des Aiguilles' located at 2493m
Afterward, you can enjoy a few drinks while facing a breathtaking landscape, take a deep breath of fresh air, play some cards, and then indulge in a hearty dinner followed by a night in a dormitory. Mountain vibes guaranteed.

Wake up and have breakfast at the refuge, then set off very early in the dark with headlamps
We head back to the Montenvers train to make our way down towards Chamonix. Our legs will likely still feel heavy from yesterday's adventures.
Afterwards, you share a picnic lunch prepared by the refuge with the rest of the team 🙂 Ideal for resting your thighs after a weekend in the high mountains.
To round off the weekend, you take your Millet gear back to the shop for a final visit to the mountaineering capital.
This weekend is a must if you want to start mountaineering in Chamonix. You'll see it's superb.
